Re: A historical perspective on the exam business

Man, I didn't know anybody but me remembered when lab kits were free !
And out of all the crap, for some reason, that bothers me the most.

Re: putting direct billing contracts in place

I don't understand why you had a problem getting a quote from your billing company. I have only direct billed thru Portamedic(N.Y. office) & Superior (CA office) & they both sent me info on each insurance company that I had agents for. They actually gave me what Farmers, So. Farm Bureau, etc...

Re: Examone

@ guest Yes, you are easily replaced, refuse and you can be replaced, the pc's or the ic's dont care who you are, you are nobody to them, anybody that will get the job done is all they care about. There are plenty of newbies that will take your place so you go ahead and think you are the greatest a...

Re: Problems with EMSI

I am assuming since you said you work for your local EMSI branch that you are a contract examiner, not direct billing ??? I did some contract work for EMSI while I was in Texas & have nothing but warm, fuzzy feelings for them. I think they did pay a little slower than some, but, dang they paid ...

Re: Examone

I actually think what the E1 BM said is the best & most fair way. Give the examiner the choice, pick up the packet & get nada, or print it out yourself & make $10.00.
;j
And if an insurance company is not paying for packet handling its because the PC has agreed to that. SHAME !

Re: Examone

I hate than anyone feels that they should lose work over the packets, not what I was advocating. BUT, if they want to pay you less (or nothing, geeeeze) then they get less (or nothing) Its pretty simple to take the packet to your appointment, hand it to the applicant & tell them "they want ...

Re: Examone

I don't begrudge anyone the right to vent, God knows if you work like we do, you need to vent once in a while! However, I do get frustrated with the general, blanket statements (ExamOne sucks, etc.) You must know that every office, every owner, for all the major companies in every state is as diffe...

Re: Examone

Wanted to know if anyone that contracts with exam1 gets any extra pay for schedule now cases? Also does anyone get paid for the document handling fee or the application fee? Or do you get any extra for a packet that you are printing and taking to the client? Thanks in advance. This used to be a sit...

Re: APPS new contract agreement

I bill through Examnet.com They start you out (as a Direct only) at 85% and reimburse the kits costs. The kits are $7.95 apiece and that is what I am given back on my check, so it is a wash. Only now I can use them as a tax write-off. If you are interested, call Laurie Star-Jones. Her number is: 40...

Re: Direct Examiner Question

OVER-CHARGED??? Believe me, the agent/Insurance company was charged the same price, the PC just didn't get the bigest slice of the pie. Do not let them make you think that you are costing the agent more, not true!
However, not a good idea to do your directs thru a PC that you still work with.

Re: Anybody having problems using one lab's kits when they..

They (meaning CRL, etc) will almost never refuse an E1 kit BUT like someone else said, their urine tubes contain a different formula to match the testing machinery than E1. You are better off to just ditch the tablet in the green tube & make note that you did. That way if they want to add their...

Re: WTF is with superior?

I am a busy lady & of course, my direct cases take the # 1 spot in my busy schedule. However, I kept trying to help out Superior whenever I could. The last straw was 1 of those little report cards with all the errors because I didn't call the applicant every day even after she had asked me to g...

Re: any one had luck using a urine kit instead of blood kit

Please see the posting "Kits from Portamedic" which is actually an extremely helpful post on the cost of lab kits & the way to lodge a complaint re: the ever rising $, already over-priced lab kits. If everyone would take the time to do this it sure couldn't hurt. Might even help in th...

Re: Kits from Portamedic?

This is an issue that needs to be kept current. I am filing my complaint today. There is a current discussion about turning UA kits into Blood/HOS kits due to the cost. This might be a way to show these damn labs that we are NOT going to just roll over for them. EVERYTHING that affects our bottom l...

It really is time for a strike of some sort. i did my own "strike"... i quit and went direct only. they lost an excellent examiner, but i don't think they cared :( ... It thrills me to hear that. GOOD for you! And, no, they don't care....at least not enough to do anything about it. I have...

Re: Urine Test

And, that urine temp is mostly BS. In Texas you can easily get 100* reading in the summer if client has recently been outdoors. I certainly would not assume that the specimen was not the clients because of a funky or low reading. Unless they look at it immediately after collecting it, it can be 92 ...

Re: Urine Test

I tell them that 1 tube is a drug screen. The other is a UA.
But, HIV & nicotine can also be tested for with urine.
The insurance companies dictate the testing, best to ask your agent.

Re: minimum lavendar

Technically, no, its not enough. Because of the anticoagulant in the lavender tube the ratio of that to blood is critical. Book says must have at least 2cc (ml) or 1/2 filled.
Having said that, I've seen tubes with less sent to lab without a re-draw request.
Soooooo, good luck ;)
